“A hero is a person who does what is necessary for the good of human society at a decisive moment.”Every time I hear this, I think about the people who have devoted to their jobs. No matter doctors, teachers, policemen or volunteers, as long as you constantly struggle in the front line and make a lot of contributions to the society, you are the most respected and admired people. The victory of the fight against the epidemic is inseparable from your efforts.

In October, the epidemic suddenly came back and disrupted the peace of our life. Instantly, the whole city was seized in panic. It was the doctors who did nucleic acid tests overnight and treated patients; it was the teachers you who prepared lessons and taught online every day during home quarantine; it was the policemen who kept the city in order; it was the volunteers who helped us selflessly.

I remember that afternoon, when we finished our lessons at school and we were going to go home, we got a call to take a nucleic acid test. Everyone was anxious and nervous. All the teachers and medical staffs were busy working. In school library, the medical staffs were wearing protective suits and goggles. They were doing nucleic acid tests for us. Although they were very tired and sweaty, they were still doing their work patiently.

When everyone finished their nucleic acid tests it was already midnight. The medical staffs still had to work through the night. And our teachers still had to attend the meeting to prepare the lessons online. That night was definitely one of my most impressive nights.

To my relief, there were a lot of good news——the epidemic was brought under effective control, and a local patient has recovered. Soon, we were out of quarantine and went back to school.

Since the epidemic began in 2020, the strugglers have never stopped contributing to the epidemic. During this time, numerous touching stories happened.

Wang Huanhuan is a nurse. Before the Spring Festival in 2020, she had been on duty at the fever clinic in a hospital. Her colleagues were concerned and asked her to take a break, “I am a member of the Communist Party. This is a critical moment. I should hang on,” Wang Huanhuan said with a smile. Because of her busy work, she couldn’t go home during the Spring Festival. But she worked diligently without any complaints.

Zheng Yong is a policeman in Nanzhang, Hubei Province. On January 24th, New Year’s Eve, Zheng Yong was on duty with his two colleagues. His wife called him and asked him to go home earlier to have meal with their families together. But he refused his wife because he wanted his colleagues to reunite with their families. On that day afternoon, Zheng got a stomachache while he was driving. The next day, his illness became worse and he was taken to the ICU for treatment. Unfortunately, his illness was progressing too quickly. Zheng passed away on February 25th.

Just like Wang and Zheng, many workers have to ignore their lives, families and health to work in the front line. Wang and Zheng are just two of them.

In the beginning of 2020, the epidemic broke out in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Everyone was panic, and we had to stay at home. We were facing economic crisis, and many people lost their jobs. It was a very dark time for everyone. Now the current epidemic is basically controlled, and the society is stable, so students can go to school, adults can go to work, and everything is back to normal. These are all the strugglers’ efforts. As students, we can only do well in epidemic prevention and study harder to requite them.

Finally, I would like to send my sincere gratitude and blessings to our heroes and warriors. Thank you all for stepping up during our toughest times, thank you all for giving us such a peaceful life, thank you all for defeating the darkness and bringing us the light.

There is no everlasting night in life, and no everlasting winter in the world. We are united in this difficult time, and I believe we can certainly overcome the epidemic.
